City of London Rapidplay Chess League UPDATE

Thank you for entering your club in the City Summer Rapidplay League.

As will the london league, rotation of players is fine. There is no maximum size of squad, and no need to notify your group of registered players.

As anticipated, all clubs will play all of their matches on the same evening (Wednesdays) at the same time (7.15pm), at the same venue (Golden Lane). The first match is on 3rd June, and thereafter there will be weekly matches until early August.

As there are 12 teams you will get two matches per evening, from 3rd June through to 12th August inclusive!

The format will be:

- each player plays two half-hour games against the same opponent.
- gradings bands: top board - open
bottom board - under 125
middle boards - under 160
- each match will be scored according to the total game scores e.g. for a 4- board event, there will be 8 games. So 1 point for each game won, half a point for a draw, in the usual way.
- rapidplay grades will be used if available; otherwise standard grades will suffice.
- the results will will be graded
- defaults should be notified to the opposing captain at least a day in advance.
- where a default is notified, the opposing team will score 2 points (i.e. 1 point for each game that would have been played) and the defaulting team will score no points for that player.
- where a default occurs without having been notified by the previous day, the defaulting team will also suffer a 1 point penalty in addition to the position outlined above.

I should be grateful if you would each confirm either that (1) you are the captain for your club or (2) give me the name of your captain. I will also need telephone numbers and email addresses please, which I will circulate to all captains, in order for you to be able to contact each other as necessary.

Finally, the cost is likely to be around £30 (to cover rental and ECF grading fees). Again, the exact amount will be confirmed when I know the exact number of entrants.

Please acknowledge receipt of this email, and provide the required details, by the end of this week if possible.

I will then circulate a fixture list, contact list and any other relevant information.
